while back some of you may remember an entry that I wrote about Jean' Paul. (It's an entry that I ended up deleting accidentally months ago)
He's the two year old son of my Nieces best friend. He was the ring bearer in my Nieces wedding. Here are a couple of pics of him from the wedding...
Jean' Paul had what his parents thought was a cold over the Christmas holidays but the day after Christmas they noticed that his lips were turning blue and rushed him to the hospital. Long story short, Jean' Paul had a virus that cause damage to his heart, and the only way he would survive would be a heart transplant.
He was immediately put on the transplant list. On January 8th Jean' Paul had a 16 hour surgery to install a Berlin Heart. It's an artificial heart that he would be able to live with until a donor heart became available. The Berlin Heart took some of the burden off of Jean' Paul's heart and his heart has begun to heal it's self. Not enough for them to take him off the transplant list though.
Jean' Paul's Mom and Dad went two months without holding him. His Mom has been in Arkansas with him since he was flown there, over 5 months ago. These are pics of Candi holding Jean' Paul for the first time after the surgery for the Berlin Heart.
Jean' Paul playing at the hospital.
This morning this beautiful little boy's parents received word that there was a donor heart that possibly might be a match. All the testing was done and IT WAS A MATCH! As of 5 o'clock this afternoon when I talked to my niece Jean' Paul has a new heart and it is beating beautifully.
Though my heart breaks for the family who had to make the decision to donate the organs of the child they lost, I can't begin to tell you how happy I am for the family who didn't lose. Who gets to keep this beautiful little boy for longer than they thought they were going to be able to!
Thank you so much to the family of the donor, thank you so much to all the people who have prayed for Jean' Paul and thank you so much to God, for helping to save this beautiful baby boy!!
GOD IS SO GOOD!!

I've just added 2 more people to my list of prayers - Jean Paul and his own personal saint. It was a great weekend wasn't it? Thanks for your prayers and checking on me. Means more than you'll probably ever know!
What wonderful news! It is sad for that family, but I am so glad for yours.
That is some much needed good news Cajun! I have had such a heavy heart with all the sadness in blog land with sick babies!
Yeah!
Wow, what an amazing story.
That is wonderful news!
That was a great thing to read on a dreary Monday morning! He's a precious little thing. I'm praying the surgery is a success.
Wow......how quickly life can change. My sister is hoping for a kidney match, so I know how this can feel!
Transplant without a doubt is a double edged sword for anyone associated. our heart breaks for the donor family and soars for the one receiving the gift of life. Prayers and tears flow all at once joy and sadness mixed with gratitude and sympathy. I am so glad that that precious baby boy got a second chance at life.. my heart is with your family in celebration.. and my prayers are withthe family who gave that selfless gift to him for their peace... much love sweetie.. give him a huge bear hug for me..
I am in tears! I am a big proponent for organ donation. There is no reason for more families to have to suffer the loss when one loss can help so many. God bless the family who lost their child, but gave the gift of life to who knows how many others! Prayers to Jean Paul for a smooth recovery. What a tough thing for a little one to have to endure...
God is very Good!

I'm so happy Jean Paul has a beating heart. I know his little savior is with God as one of his angels.

I wasn't sure how this story was going to end up. I was relieved to read that he received the transplant. Hopefully Jean Paul and his family will continue to be blessed. I am sorry for the other family, though. When I see stories like this I remind myself that I have nothing to complain about.
