The Corruptible - A Book Review

June 8, 2011

I didn't realize it but The Corruptible is the second book in the Night Watchman series about a private investigator, Ray Quinn. I probably wouldn't have picked this book if I had. Only because I like to start reading a series from the beginning.

Even without reading the first book in the series the storyline was pretty easy to follow.

Ray Quinn is a disabled former police officer turned private investigator who is still healing from being shot (in the first book) and trying to deal with the death of the woman he loved. Dealing with the emotional and physical pain has led him to become dependant on his "pal" Jim Beam.

Ray takes on a case for the CEO of a powerful company who wants him to track down former employee Logan Ramsey, whom he thinks has stolen sensitive client information. Logan is an ex-cop that Ray worked with before he (Logan) ruined his career.

Thinking it's going to be a simple case with a huge payday, Ray takes the case. But the case takes a bad turn when Logan turns up dead and there's no sign of the missing files. It doesn't help that the CEO that hired him is less than forthcoming with the information Ray needs to solve the case.

With an interesting cast of characters that include Ray's sidekick Crevis, who is desperate to finally pass the police academy exam. And his friend Pam, who's brother's murder Ray solved (in the first book), Ray is determined to solve Logan's murder.

Ray never seems to loose his coo, weather he's dealing with his CEO client or the motorcycle gang that Logan infiltrated before he was kicked off the force.

All in all, I liked the book. It was a bit "long winded" for me but still a good read.

It's time for my weekly confessional. Yours too! So, grab the button above and do yours too!

I confess....

I have a some new favorites that y'all should try. You'll love them.

I ♥ this stuff.

I'm usually a tea and/or Coke drinker but with Summer's arrival they're just not cutting it for me. I'm all about drinking juices lately.

I'd been seeing this juice in the grocery store for a while but I wasn't sure if I wanted to take the chance and buy it. I hate wasting money buying something if I'm not sure I'm going to like it. This wasn't what I was expecting at all. It's not an overbearing  watermelon taste at all. Really good stuff.

Ok, these. I've been in love with them for a while now. I honestly think I could live on them. They're that good. My dogs love them too lol. Yes people, I actually feed my dogs Popsicles. Stop rolling your eyes lol. Seriously, try these. You'll love them too.

I confess...

I may just have the most redneck weekend I've ever had in my life this weekend. Lets see what "events" are happening in my neck of the woods this weekend...

First we have the Carolina Cup Regatta...

Ok, so watching these races are actually fun. These guys are nuts, the last time hubby and I went to these races one of the guys actually flipped up in the air, completely vertical but somehow he manged to get the boat to come back down in the water. This should be fun.

Next,

There are some kind of races at the Dixieland Speedway this weekend that hubby wants to go to. I'm not sure what they are, but I'm actually looking forward to going. We've been here once before and had lots of fun making fun of the rednecks watching the races.

And last but not least....

The E City National Truck and Tractor Pulls are this Saturday and Sunday and hubby said he'd like to go. I've never been to a truck and tractor pull so this should be fun. Who knows??

I confess...

I have a hilarious Faqcebook rant blog entry coming up sometime this week. I promise, you'll laugh your butt off, or shake your head, or both lol. I'm trying to design a new layout for my blog so as soon as I finish that I'll post it.

I confess...

It's really aggravating when you're trying to make a dr's appointment all damn day long and you keep getting their voice mail. Hellooooo....I can't make an appointment through voice mail. Answer the damn phone already. I'm in pain and I think I have a kidney infection.

I confess...

I'm getting super excited about my trip to Tn in

days! I can't wait to see my sister!!!

I confess...

I recently found my best friend from when I was 10 years old on FB and we have plans to get together while I'm in Tn. I can't wait!

That's my confession for this week. Can't wait to read yours!

You know the deal! Clicck on the purdy button up there, grab the questions and play along!

1). If the blogging world had a talent show, what would your act be?
Oh hell lol, the only thing I can think of would be designing blog layouts lol.

2). What's the most likely reason you might become famous?
Haha! For going postal on people. Are people getting on your nerves as bad as they have been mine lately??

3). What question are you repeatedly asked that you are tired of hearing?
Are you crazy? (Why yes, yes I am!) Weren't you scared when you  finally met your hubby in person? See, we met on line and everyone thought I was nuts. I mean, I hardly think that a man who spent over a year talking to me on line is going to turn out to be an axe murderer. Just sayin'.

4.) What's the last thing you broke?
A flyswatter I think lol. Long story.

5.) Finish this sentence. I can't believe I used to ________.
think that living so far away from my Son and family would be easy. It's not. The more time that goes by, the harder it gets. It sucks. I hate it. The end.

So now it's your turn. Go grab the questions and join in the fun!
