What I'd Like To Do.......

May 14, 2010

s
his weekend I'd love to load up the truck and take off for a romantic weekend  on the OBX (Outer Banks, NC). Though we live very close to the beaches, and even got married down there, we've never really gone exploring like I'd like to down there. There's so much to do, so much to see. Not to mention, it's getting to be that dreaded time of year....tourist season.
Trust me, you don't even want to go near the OBX during tourist season. The traffic alone (it can sometimes take up to three hours just to get there) would drive me out of my mind. Because of this, Don and I usually only take two or three (day) trips down there a year. These trips are usually before and after tourist season.

I want so badly to smell the beach. To hear the waves, the birds...to see the sights and sounds of the beach. It's always been a natural Xanax for me. You will never see a more relaxed me than you will at the beach. It's like I can breath deeper there.

There are so many things down there (the OBX) that I've wanted to do/see since I moved here that we've never taken the time to see.

I'd like to go to Roanoke Island and...

Take a ride on the Elizabeth II.

And take a tour of the Elizabethan Gardens.

I want to go to Corolla and find the wild horses. Yes people...wild horses! I've wanted to do this since I moved to N.C. (4 years ago). I can't begin to tell you how bad I've wanted to go see them. You have to have a 4-wheel drive to see them though. The road ends and you have to drive on the beach to see them. I mean...have you ever seen anything more gorgeous??

I want to see the five lighthouses of the OBX. Ok...so I wont be able to climb the damn stairs in 'em but still, I want to at least see them.

The Currituck Beach Lighthouse.

 Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

 Bodie Island Lighthouse.

Ocracoke Lighthouse.

Cape Lookout Lighthouse.

Aren't they pretty?

I'd like to go to Jockey's Ridge State Park and watch the hang gliders.

I'd like to ride the ferry to Ocracoke Island and go exploring.

I'd like to spend a lazy afternoon sitting in Goobay's drinking their amazing bloody mary's (they are so freakin' good!!).

I want to go to Dirty Dicks and buy one of those cheesy "I Got My Crabs At Dirty Dicks" t-shirts.

I want to go to Try My Nuts and...well...try their nuts. OK!!! I'd like to get one of their cheesy "Try My Nuts" shirts too.

I'd like to view a beautiful OBX sunrise.

I want to walk down the beach with Don collecting seashells.

I want to spend a couple of days of doing nothing but just enjoying the beach. The sounds, the smells, the beauty of it all.

I want to sit on the beach with Don, neither one of us speaking a word because we just don't want to interrupt the sounds of the ocean.

I want to sit on the deck of Fishbones and watch a gorgeous sunset with the man I love.

I want to sleep with the balcony doors of our hotel room open so I can be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the ocean and I want to wake up next to him, just to start it all over again.

What we'll probably do all weekend:

Don is so tired that we'll probably just stay home all weekend. I want him to catch up on his sleep, I worry about him...usually by Thursday he's so tired I worry about him driving home from work. I don't mind staying home though, as long as I get to spend time with him...I'm happy!!

Leiah from A Southern Girl Trying Not To Rust sent me an email this morning, they may have found a match for her Dad's liver transplant, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers!!

I just had to share this with you...I found it the other day on Google and had to grab it!

Lmao!! To hell with all the blog drama, if you've got something to say to a fellow blogger...just give this little "award!" Haha...

Have a great weekend y'all!

One year ago today (lots of pictures)..........

April 26, 2010

One year ago today I walked down to the beach, with a crowd of family and friends, and Don of course. One year ago today I married the most amazing man that I've ever met. I married a man who loves me, just as I am. He hasn't once tried to change me. He has showed me that it's ok to love myself, to think about myself and not feel guilty about it. He's given me more than anyone has ever cared to, the things he's given to me are things that can't be purchased. They're things that are priceless to me. I'm more in love with him at this moment than I've ever been before, but I know that when I wake up, I'll love him even more! That is the most amazing feeling ever!!

I honestly never thought that this kind of life was even possible. That this kind of happiness is even possible. How do you repay someone for that? The only way I've been able to figure out to repay him for what he's given me is to love him just as much in return!

On our wedding day we laughed. We laughed because we were happy! It was such a happy day for us! Anyway...on to the pics! These are in no certain order!

Two days before the wedding my Sister Diann, her husband Tomy and I went down to the beach and stayed at a hotel until our beach rental was available. It was so nice to get to spend some time alone with them! We went shopping at Kitty Hawk Kites wich is located right across from Jockey's Ridge which is the tallest natural sand dunes in the eastern U.S.!

Anyway, Tomy wanted to buy some kites for us to fly. First he found these two really cool kites, but then he found THIS...

Cool kite right? Looks like a reagular ol' kite right?? Well...feast your eyes on this baby on the ground...

The damn thing is 19ft wide!! Lol...sucker is HUGE!!! We named it "the big EFFIN' kite!"

Everyone wanted a turn flying this bitch! It's not as easy as it looks lol!

The day of the wedding Tomy decided to get the kite up in the air and then he tied it off to the back deck of our beach house. That damn thing was so strong if you'd touch the line the damn thing was vibrating! When it came time to pull the kite in, it took all these people (in the pics below) about 30 - 40 minutes to get it pulled in! I'm not kidding! Lol..

(This is my favorite wedding picture out of all of them!!)

Our wedding was exactly what we wanted it to be. It was small, it was beautiful! There was no stress involved in our wedding day what so ever!! We couldn't have asked for a better day!!
